The Greater Milwaukee Foundation has named Michael Hoffman as its next vice president of human resources and organizational learning, effective May 7, 2018.

With more than 25 years of leadership experience in the nonprofit and higher education sectors, Hoffman brings an innovative approach to employee engagement, talent acquisition and retention, and best practices in HR. He will be responsible for driving strategic planning, organizational development, staff learning, collaboration and talent management while ensuring alignment of the Foundation's commitment to racial equity and inclusion.

Hoffman joins the Foundation from Cardinal Stritch University, where he held the role of director of human resources and payroll for three years. He previously served as vice president of human resources for both Bethesda Lutheran Communities in Watertown, Wis., as well as Milwaukee-based Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin/Upper Michigan for a combined 15 years, in addition to other professional positions with Lutheran Social Services and Brown County.

“As a growing organization, the Foundation is looking forward to the guidance and expertise that Michael will bring to our human resources and organizational learning functions,” said Ellen Gilligan, president and CEO. “He is a welcome addition to our leadership team as we build upon more than a century of service to philanthropic donors and our diverse region.”

Hoffman holds a Master of Business Administration from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a bachelor’s degree from Edgewood College in Madison, Wis. He is a graduate of the Disney Institute in Leadership Excellence.

An honorary Certified Public Manager, Hoffman is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management and the Health Insurance Advisory Committee of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
